Double page spread

As you can see my double page spread has a clear layout plan. It has a main title and a caption just underneath. There is three columns of text which i think works really well in keeping it organised and in a structure. I have tried to keep the double page spread simple and formal, which i think is really effective in getting people to look at it.

As you can see my double page spread follows the exact same conventions as an original double page spread. The main Title is at the top with a pull quote, which is then followed by a caption for the article and then text. I think following these conventions is key in engaging your target audience.

Double page spread

I have used two different types of pictures to to my double page spread. This is so i can see which one would suit it more. I have kept the right hand side the same as i think it is effective and a simple picture on the other side works well.

I really like the idea of breaking the double page spread into four different sections. i have researched other double page spread magazines and have found that this one is the most effective. I will use the text at the bottom which will have my contents in. above that i will have a pull quote to introduce what the article will be about. and then a picture describing who it is about.

I really like this double page spread as the pull quote and the strape line  really make the page stand out. The page is simple but i very effective, I think i will use this idea in creating my double page spread. 

I have used an example double page spread to make my own double page spread. I have used a Pull quote as i think it is really effective. I have also used the idea of having a picture on one side and the writing on the other as i think it makes it really interesting for the reader to read. 

However i feel that this double page spread layout is not really aimed at my target audience. I feel that the bold background behind the text will be more appealing to people who prefer a different genre of music and therefore would grab the attention of my target audience. because i this reason i will not use it.

Analysis of double page spread

The headline is shown above the article, in bold, black text so it will stand out and make the audience read it. A long shot of the artist is used as a background for the whole spread to make her bold. The article is written in columns on the right side of the page, this contrasts with the grey background to make it stand out and easy to read. There is also an introduction informing the readers what they are reading just above the text. Not only this but when you pick up the magazine your eyes automatically read from left to right and therefore your eyes are attracted to the picture first and then move towards the headline.

I really like the layout of this contents page. It has three simple columns of text and is full of pictures. The cover lines are bold so you can clearly see them as it contrasts with the background. This contents page looks professional and is very effective. I think i will elaborate on some of these ideas to create my next contents page. 

First contents page

I am pleased with the layout of my first contents page, Although i think i need to work on my house style more. so you can really see they are from the same magazine. 

As you can see from the picture above, i have tried to incorporate the same designs i have used for my front cover. I have done this by using dotted lines to break up text, and have done this throughout the house style of my magazine. I think this will make it more effective and interesting for the reader.

I really like the lines that are used in this contents page. The lines really highlight the masthead, strape lines and pull quotes.  They are simple but very effective and i think that this will work really well in designing my contents page.
