Photo planning for front cover

My Magazine Ideas

After Looking at two different magazines with the same target audience. I have found that the house style for "we love pop" the colours are bright and bold, and follow the same layout throughout the different magazines. I can also see that the front cover is busy and has lots of information produced even though there is a clear layout which would appeal to a teenager.

Where as the second magazine image is more plan and to the point so the masthead is more visible. The house style is a lot more professional and you can clearly see what is written. After looking at the two magazines i think that for my magazine the second one would give me more inspiration. I think this would would be better because teenagers want to be taken seriously and i feel that this magazine can help achieve that

Masthead

After speaking to my target audience i found that they prefer the "maybe" masthead the most. This is because it is short and catchy. They also like the bright colours because it is eye catching. So this is the masthead idea i am going to use

Masthead ideas for my magazine

i have created ideas for my masthead idea for my magazine. My magazine audience is young teenage girls this is why i have kept the colours mostly pink and purple. My favorite masthead idea is the purple sound. This is because the sound look like the speakers are making its hack

Kerrang brand values

I looked at the magazine kerrang. kerrang consists if many rock bands and heavy metal artists which may not appeal to everyone giving it a niche audience. Kerrang uses capital letters to it's advantage to emphasise the loud music it expresses. The house colours used are usually, if not always red black and grey. Red has connotations of blood, passion and death. Black and grey have connotations of death, depression and darkness; all these link to the music featured in it's magazine in which the house colours are consistent. All the main images in used in kerrang are direct in address and are often taken at a low angle shot, so you feel slightly threatened as the band/artist is looking down on you  which contributes to the anger given off by their music, but the judgements the public make of this cause moral panic among older people because of the threatening image.

Audience

The audience for my magazine is really anyone who is in school and interested in what the upcoming events there are. Therefore it is mainly targeted at students aged between 12- 18, teachers within the school are also the audience but it is also parents and people who live within the Sutton Coldfield area. Because of this wide age range between teenagers and people who have children and grandchildren who go to the school. I need to take into consideration how I present and layout my magazine.

Detailed magazine cover

Ideas for masthead

I have created these masthead ideas for my magazine. I really like the first one in the top left as i think it keeps the house style colours of the school and also makes it clear that the magazine is from plants brook school. I also think the font i used works really well as it shows that this is a professional magazine mostly aimed at students and teachers.
